Governor of LA, 1860. He was a die-hard secessionist, hopeful of playing a leading role in the new nation to be formed of Southern states... With the political network Moore commanded with Pierre Soules' support, secessionist sentiment prevailed even though Union sympathies were at least equal or stronger. [Rapides Parish: An Illustrated History by Sue Eakin]. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the La. State Seminary (LSU).
