Dear Father I imbrace the ;present opportunity of righting you a few lines to let you know that I am well. I receive your kind and affectioned letter whitch gave me grate satisfaction to hear you was all well and I hope those few lines may find you all injoying the same good blesing of health. I am happy to state to you that our Regt is geting furlougs at this time. Powel Auten starts home today. I will inclose forty six dollars in this letter. I will keep the balance of my money for I may get to go home the next time my self an then I will need my money. I may come the next time and it may be that I wont get home for six months. It is just as it hapens for we have to draw tickets it is like the lottery un certain. Send my pants with Powel Auten and I want two pare of socks for some rascal stole one pare of them I had here. If Powel is fetching any boxes of provisions with him I want you to put in some for me. So I will close as I rote you all the neuse the other day. So nothing more. Be shure and send me all I have rote for. It may be I wont get home for six months.
