Dear Father I take my little old short pencil in hand this morning to Rite you a few lines to let you know that I am well and I hope those few lines may find you all enjoying the same good blessing.  Well we are out on the march again.  We started on the twenty ninth.  We march thirty miles the first day.  We have been expecting a fight ever day but we have not got in it yet.  The yankees has being boming our men from theare gun boats ever day for a week.  Our artilery men has being shooting at the gun boats all the time a long but I donít know whether they done mutch damage.
